Karl Longley is the former dean of engineering and computer science at California State University, Fresno, where he championed equal opportunity programs to recruit students into engineering programs. Currently, Longley is working as a research engineer with the California Water Institute.
Longley served for 13 years as a gubernatorial appointee on California’s Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and as the chairman of ASCE’s Water Supply and Resource Management Committee. In addition, he was an environmental engineer officer and lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army.
He is a member of the American Water Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the International Association for Water Quality, the Nature Conservancy and the Water Environment Federation.
Longley earned his bachelor’s from the University of New Mexico and his master’s and doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University.
