Know Your Strengths

Written By Craig Scharton

It is important for organizations to know their strengths, their areas that need improvement and their weaknesses (so they can steer clear of them). One of our strengths at the Central Valley Business Incubator is our Entrepreneurial Training Process (ETP) course.

Our ETP classes are for entrepreneurs who are about to start a business or who have recently started a business. One of the best features of the ETP class is that the participants are all entrepreneurs. They share many of the same struggles and experiences, like how to transition from a job to owning a business. They help each other, encourage each other and even critique each other as peers.

We bring in some of the best local professionals to address financial, legal, personnel and marketing issues, topics that every business needs in their plan. The next series of ETP will be the last taught and coordinated by Jarah Euston, our member services director, who has been accepted into the MBA program at the Wharton Business School. We are very proud of Jarah and this accomplishment and believe that it also demonstrates the high level of service that our ETP students and CVBI members are receiving. The next class series will also be the first in our new facility at 1630 E. Shaw!

The ETP Level II course is intense and is designed to help entrepreneurs put together a plan for their venture -- not simply a business plan. This is more than a semantic difference. We want our ETP graduates to have a meaningful plan, with every component researched and developed, so that it will be a guide for them well into their future.

Next ETP II Class:

  • May 7 - June 18
  • Mondays and Thursdays
  • 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • $250
