I know that there is some well-earned cynicism among business people toward government programs. But just as there are efficient and inefficient businesses, there are also good government agencies, employees and programs - like the regional Workforce Investment Boards (WIB).

There has been a lot of talk about Lifelong Learning over the past decade. Just keeping up with changing technology requires us to continually update our skills. There are a variety of ways to continue to learn in our work and personal lives.

Jobs are not the goal of economic development. Rather, jobs are the OUTCOME of successful economic development. So are: wealth, prosperity, disposable income, and a higher tax base to support local services, like public safety and parks.

It’s hard to believe – the Claude Laval Water & Energy Technology (WET) Incubator has already been open for a year! We are working hard to position the WET as the center point in the regional effort to turn the Central Valley into a world leader in water technology. Along with our partner, Fresno State’s International Center for Water Technology (ICWT), we are striving to serve the existing water technology companies in our region, develop new technologies and new companies, and become a place where the world will come for its water solutions.
