There has been a lot of talk about Lifelong Learning over the past decade. Just keeping up with changing technology requires us to continually update our skills. There are a variety of ways to continue to learn in our work and personal lives.

Jobs are not the goal of economic development. Rather, jobs are the OUTCOME of successful economic development. So are: wealth, prosperity, disposable income, and a higher tax base to support local services, like public safety and parks.

It’s hard to believe – the Claude Laval Water & Energy Technology (WET) Incubator has already been open for a year! We are working hard to position the WET as the center point in the regional effort to turn the Central Valley into a world leader in water technology. Along with our partner, Fresno State’s International Center for Water Technology (ICWT), we are striving to serve the existing water technology companies in our region, develop new technologies and new companies, and become a place where the world will come for its water solutions.

The changing of the calendar offers the opportunity for introspection. There really isn’t anything amazing that truly happens when the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 31 (or is it striking midnight on Jan. 1?), but we take this time to examine life, love, business and a number of other things. Do we remember Dec. 31, 1999? People made some serious plans. Pallets of staple items were tucked away. People wanted to ensure everything was in order “just in case.”

Dear Santa,

I've been a pretty good boy this year - probably because I'm getting older and don't have as much energy to get into trouble as I used to. Regardless, let's just stick with the fact that I've been relatively nice.
