Himself an entrepreneur, Schulz also owns a consulting firm and has worked with clients from China as well as on regional political campaigns. Schulz served on two chambers of commerce before moving to California in the early ‘90s – he served as president and general manager of the Coeur d’Alene Area Chamber of Commerce in Idaho for three years (1987-90) and as ag bureau manager of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce for four years (1983-87).

A true “renaissance man,” Schulz has also worked as a special agent for an insurance company, been self-employed as a farmer and taught junior high and high school classes in Washington state.

Originally from Reardan, Wash., Schulz graduated from Washington State in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in vocational technical education. He attended the University of Colorado’s Institute for Organizational Management, a program for chamber executives co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and graduated in 1989.

Schulz is currently a member of the California and Tulare County Farm Bureau, Tulare Industrial Site Development Foundation Board of Directors and the Visalia Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a member of numerous boards of directors, including the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corp. of Tulare County and the Tractor and Equipment Association Board.

Schulz is married to Kathy and has five children: Geoff, Kevin, Stephanie, Justin and George. The Schulzes also have three grandchildren. In his spare time, Schulz enjoys golf, following the Washington State Cougars and the Seattle Seahawks, and coaching his children’s sports teams.
