Southeast Fresno, a region with high unemployment and an undertrained workforce, has formed a much needed Southeast Fresno Community Economic Development Association (SEFCEDA). CVBI-SBDC has connected with the Southeast Fresno Community Economic Development Association by presenting to their members and offering them the SBDC program.
SEFCEDA exists to create positive change in Southeast Fresno. The association recognizes the high unemployment rate, a population undertrained for many jobs and inadequate recreational facilities, among other issues. The organization is dedicated to addressing the Southeast Fresno’s unemployment rate, projected at about 37.3 percent (compared to Fresno’s 17.4 percent in March 2012), by improving training and education to increase the earning potential of Southeast Fresno residents.
By connecting individuals with business resources, SEFCEDA is paving the way for community success. Entrepreneurs and businesses in Southeast Fresno will soon have technical assistance and access to resources needed for expansion capital. SEFCEDA offers advice to businesses on steps to take as a result of recession, and what can be done to improve business success. By focusing on business, family and an improved quality of life, SEFCEDA is making a positive impact on the Southeast Fresno community.
