Defining Moment: BlueTechValley Water Conference

The 2011 BlueTechValley Water Conference was a success in a number of ways: Top talent from around the world shared their insights, local industry leaders networked and presented local innovations, attendees were able to make business connections, and the region was positioned as a leader in water innovation and commercialization.

The day-and-a-half conference, attended by more than 200 people, focused on international solutions to regional issues; however, as the conference unfolded, it became obvious that the Central Valley possesses regional solutions to international issues.

The event’s speakers and panelists were among the best assembled. We have provided links to their presentations:

Dr. Peter Williams | CTO | Big Green Innovation, IBM

Woodrow W. Clark II, PhD | 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Winner | Managing Director, Qualitative Economist | Clark Strategic Partners

Laura Shenkar | Principal | The Artemis Project

Kevin Brophy | CEO | Meidlinger Partners, LLC

Bahman Sheikh, PhD | PE Water Resources & Resuse Specialist

Michael George | Managing Director, Public Finance Manager | Integrated Water Industry Services, Wedbush Securities, Inc.

Ed Pinero | Chief Sustainability Officer | Veolia Water North America | former Federal Environmental Executive reporting to President George W. Bush

Henrik Skov Laursen | Head of Water Technology Center | GRUNDFOS Pumps Corporation North American Region

Thomas M. Berliner | Partner | Duane Morris LLP

Carrie Freeman | Director | Sustainable Business Innovations | Intel

Robert Wample, PhD | Soil & Topography Information

While all of this is very exciting, the event really served as a catalyst for ongoing activity. The Cleantech Open is interested in connecting with the Central Valley.
